Scout Troop 185 with SRO James Luttrell and K9 Rowdy

Boy Scout Troop 185 met with SRO James Luttrell and K9 Rowdy at Columbia United Methodist Church on Monday evening. Officer Luttrell discussed with Troop 185 tobacco use as well as vaping and alcohol abuse. The scouts were also shown a drug detection demonstration with Rowdy.

Return To Zion National Park, Southern Utah (Part 3)

Robert writes, "This trail is on the East side of the park (on top of the Mountain). It called the Canyon Overlook Trail. The hike is around a mile, with breathe taking views. Parking at the trailhead is very limited, but we found a spot and was able to do the hike. We hiked this trail before heading over to Bryce Canyon National Park (Part II)."

Aaliyah Booker is 2022 Miss South Central KY, 2 of 2

Aaliyah Booker, the 8 year old daughter of Samantha Marks, was crowned 2022 Miss South Central KY on March 12, 2022. She also won mini model and Civic Supreme for collecting the most donations for the Adair County Fair Department for the 2022 Crusade for Children. Aaliyah will be competing in Nationals in November.

Aaliyah is pictured above left with her sister Harleigh and her sister Sadie, and back row left to right is her nana Marsha Vanarsdale, her mom, Samantha, and Conway Loy. At right is a closer photo of Aaliyah with Samantha and Conway.

Adair Fiscal Court holds first March 2022 meeting

A large crowd attended the Adair County Fiscal Court meeting Monday night at the Jim Blair Park and Recreation Center building. The main discussions were on a playground for all ages including children with disabilities. This was tabled until next meeting to get further information on the project and materials.

Another lengthy discussion was on the subject of getting countywide gas service. It was decided to form a committee to gather information and recommendations after some information was given by CAUD Director Lenny Stone. Judge Cowan will appoint a committee to gather details and investigate possible funding for it.

Officials in attendance at the meeting from left are: Magistrates Chris Reeder, Sammy Baker, Darryl Flatt, Harold Burton, ACJE Gale Cowan, AC Clerk Bridget Compton, and Magistrates Billy Coffey, Greg Caldwell and Terry Hadley.

Crocus bounced right back after snow

Mike Watson writes, "Everyone was worried about the snow covering, damaging or killing the daffodils/March flowers over the weekend. Ours have perked right up and the purple Crocus are beautiful as well. Tough little plants."
