Travel: Perry Monument at Presque Isle

The Perry Monument as seen across Misery Bay in Presque Isle State Park. According to Wikipedia, "In 1926, the Perry monument was built to commemorate Oliver Hazard Perry on his victory over the British in the battle on Lake Erie during the War of 1812. The monument is a 101 feet (30.8 m) obelisk located at Crystal point on Presque Isle."

Monday guest recital at Campbellsville University

Ming Ke, a traditional Chinese pipa player, is scheduled to perform at a guest recital Monday, April 4, at 8pmET in The Gheens Recital Hall, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville. Ke has appeared as a soloist with principal orchestras in China, Japan, Spain and the United States since she debuted in 1985, and has been described in the Cincinnati Enquirer as a performer whose performances "sparkle with grace and expression." Ke has also been described as a master interpreter of traditional and contemporary music for the pipa, a four stringed, pear-shaped instrument similar to the lute, mandolin or banjo.

Lanterns and Tombstones tours begin

Using the annual Silent City Tour as a starting point, Mike Watson and Dave Thomas will lead tours on the first Friday evening each month, in conjunction with Columbia's To-the-Nines downtown shopping event. The tours will wind through the historic Columbia Cemetery with historical personalities and events highlighting the walks.
