Elizabeth Sullivan is Taylor County Distinguished Young Woman

By Calen McKinney

Campbellsville High School senior Elizabeth Sullivan has been named the Taylor County Distinguished Young Woman.

Sullivan, along with fellow seniors Reagan Knight, Hayley Stapleton and Abbie Dickens and 10 students from Taylor County High School, competed in the 2019 DYW program on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018. In addition to being named the DYW for 2019, Sullivan won scholastic, talent and interview preliminary awards.

Knight was named second runner-up and received the scholastic runner-up award.

Stapleton received the Be Your Best Self award.

Stapleton sang "I Hope You Dance" for her talent.

Knight sang and played "Beautiful Thing" on the ukulele.

Dicken performed a monologue entitled "My Father's Blue Eyes."

And Sullivan performed Toccata on the piano.

The DYW program consists of scholastics, interview, fitness, self-expression and talent competitions. Scholastics and interview each count for 25 percent of a participant's score. Talent is 20 percent and fitness and self-expression are each 15 percent.

Sullivan will represent Taylor County when she competes in the Kentucky DYW program in January.
