He was a member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War; and was retired from Reynolds Aluminum. He was a member of a respected Chance, Adair County, KY family, the son of the late Tom & Annie Nokes Hoover. His wife, Dawn Estes Hoover, survives. He leaves three children, one each in Columbia, KY, Woodstock, GA, and Somerset, KY.

Leon Hoover, 85, of Columbia, KY, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 as the result of a single vehicle accident on Highway 704 in Adair County, KY.

The family has chosen cremation and no public visitation or funeral will be held.



Leon Hoover, 85, Adair County, KY (1933-2018)

He was born April 23, 1933, in the Chance community of Adair County. He was the son of the late Tom & Annie Nokes Hoover. He died Sunday, September 9, 2018, in Adair County, KY, at the age of 85 years, four months, and 17 days. He was a member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War, and was retired from Reynolds Aluminum.

Survivors include:
  • His wife - Dawn Estes Hoover of Columbia, KY

  • Three children - Kelly Hoover of Columbia, KY; Terry Hoover of Woodstock, GA; and John Hoover of Somerset, KY

  • Two brothers - Charles Hoover of Illinois, and Norman Hoover of Chance, KY

  • One sister - Valley Shearin of Chance, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
The family has chosen cremation and no public visitation or funeral will be held.

Memorials can be made to the Burbridge Cemetery Fund or Emory Chapel United Methodist Church. These may be left at the funeral home. Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
