Click on headline for complete story By Raquel Valderrama, student news writer, Office of University Communications CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Joey Budd, assistant professor of criminal justice, will be giving a QEP Ethics Lecture: "Use of force and the police: Ethical decision making when it is necessary to use force" on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 5pmCT/6pmET in Campbellsville University's Banquet Hall, 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. The Quality Enhancement Project (QEP) is a component of the university's Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Campbellsville University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award certificates, associate, baccalaureate, and masters. Budd is a veteran of the United States Air Force and law enforcement with a nine-year career in higher education with particular expertise in criminal justice. Budd graduated from Argosy University with a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership in May 2014. Budd also got his Master of Science in Criminal Justice in May 2005 from Valdosta State University. He previously taught as an online adjunct instructor for Campbellsville University beginning in January 2016. He taught Juvenile Justice in America and Introduction to Criminology. Budd was involved in law enforcement for seven years. He started his law enforcement career in Ray City, Ga. with the Ray City Police Department for two years as a patrol officer. He served as a captain for the department from August 2001 until May 2003. After leaving Ray City, Budd joined the Nashville Police Department in Nashville, Ga. for two years, starting in June 2004 as an investigator/patrol officer. He ended his law enforcement career in December 2006 in Tifton, Ga. for the Tift County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff. Budd has 16 years of military experience for the United States Air Force. At the beginning of his military career in August 1987, Budd served as a staff sergeant (E-5) until October 2001. Starting in November 2001, Budd became a part of the United States Air Force Reserves. He served as a technical sergeant (E-6) up until he ended his military career in August 2003. Budd is a part of the American Criminal Justice Society and the Southern Criminal Justice Association. Convocation credit will be available.
