Leonard Arthur Krug, 86, Adair County, KY (1932-2018)

January 17, 1932 ~ August 2, 2018 (Age 86)
He attended Rockhurst High School and the University of Missouri and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School. He was active in community theater and became a member of Actors' Equity in Chicago. After retiring to KY, he appeared frequently at Barnlot Theater in Edmonton, KY, where, under the stage name Lee Barko, he played such roles as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Mr. Potter in It's a Wonderful Life, Uncle Harvey in June Groom, Harry Roat in Wait until Dark, Dr. Einstein in Arsenic and Old Lace, Valencio in The Bold, the Young and the Murdered, Willie Clark in The Sunshine Boys, and Bob Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird. His wife, Kathryn Mary Dunn Krug, survives.

Leonard Arthur Krug, 86, of Columbia, KY, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 12:18amCT, at his home.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:30amCT, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1217 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Father Joseph Thomas officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 with the Rosary being recited at 8pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will continue after 9:30amCT, Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the church.



Leonard Arthur Krug, 86, Adair County, KY (1932-2018)


He was born January 17, 1932, in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of the late William & Fannie Ginsburg Krug. He died Thursday, August 2, 2018, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 86 years, six months, and 16 days.

He attended Rockhurst High School and the University of Missouri and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.

Interested in acting from an early age, he was active in community theater and became a member of Actors' Equity in Chicago. After retiring to KY, he appeared frequently at Barnlot Theater in Edmonton, KY, where, under the stage name Lee Barko, he played such roles as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Mr. Potter in It's a Wonderful Life, Uncle Harvey in June Groom, Harry Roat in Wait until Dark, Dr. Einstein in Arsenic and Old Lace, Valencio in The Bold, the Young and the Murdered, Willie Clark in The Sunshine Boys, and Bob Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Joe, a sister-in-law, Fanny and nephew, Stuart.

Survivors include:
  • His wife - Kathryn Mary Dunn Krug of Columbia, KY

  • Four sons and their families - John Krug and Kathleen Degnan and their children, Claire and Arthur; Ben and Heather Krug and their sons, Adam and David; Tom Brashers-Krug and Gail Brashers-Krug and their children, Niki, Ben, Julie, Coby, Liz and Sammi; Robert Krug and Salena Krug

  • And one great-nephew - Josh and his wife Amy

    Send condolences to the family of Leonard Krug

    In lieu of flowers, the family would rather donations be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, The Parkinson's Foundation or Food for the Poor. These may be left at the funeral home or church.

    Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
