Elma Dick Ponser, 96, Science Hill, KY (1921-2018)

She and her husband lived in four different countries. They lived in Afghanistan, Algeria, Indonesia and Singapore. She was seamstress and owner of Needle & Thread. She was a member of the Science Hill United Methodist Church and accepted Christ at an early age. She was also a member of the Science Hill Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Ponser and one sister, Mafre Eldridge.

Elma Dick Ponser, 96, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, 5900 N. Hwy 27, Science Hill, KY with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial was in Science Hill Cemetery.



Elma Dick Ponser, 96, Science Hill, KY (1921-2018)

She was born in Bethelridge, KY on October 17, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Ephriam Oliver & Ibbie Esther Wesley Dick. She died Monday, July 23, 2018, at the age of 96 years, nine months, and six day.

She was seamstress and owner of Needle & Thread. She was a member of the Science Hill United Methodist Church and accepted Christ at an early age. She was also a member of the Science Hill Garden Club. She and her husband lived in four different countries. They lived in Afghanistan, Algeria, Indonesia and Singapore.

She is survived by
  • Her only daughter, Virginia "Ginny Ellen" Ponser Flanagan and her husband Dan of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister, Ilema Hayden of Danville, KY

  • Two grandchildren, Dr. William E. Flanagan & (Amy) of Elizabethtown, KY and Rev. Matthew Eston Flanagan & (Felicia) of Bardstown, KY

  • Great-grandchildren, Grace Ellen Flanagan and Jackson Armstrong Flanagan, both of Elizabethtown and Caleb Thomas Flanagan and Eli William Flanagan, both of Bardstown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Ponser and one sister, Mafre Eldridge.
