He was a truck driver and of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of a large, respected Metcalfe County family, the son of the late Chester Wilson Harper & Patricia Jewell Crabtree. His wife, Rebecca Harper, Edmonton, KY, survives, as does his step mother, Janice Harper of Louisville, KY. He leaves 10 direct and one step living descendants. His final resting place will be in Metcalfe County, KY.

Chester Wayne Harper, age 61, of Edmonton passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10amCT until service time Saturday at the funeral home.



Chester Wayne Harper, 61, Edmonton, KY (1957-2018)


He was the son of the late Chester Wilson Harper & Patricia Jewell Crabtree. He was born May 1, 1957. He died July 25, 2018, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 61 years, two months, and 24 days.

He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Harper of Edmonton, KY, and the following:
  • Step mother - Janice Harper of Louisville, KY

  • Three children - Scotty Allen (Melissa) Harper of Cave City, KY; Stacey Jo Harper of Glasgow, KY; and Anthony Wayne Harper (Kayla) of Glasgow, KY
  • Step son - Dennis Dean (Alisha) Rowe of Edmonton, KY
  • Six sisters - Gay (Kenneth) Parker of Horse Cave, KY; Sharen Harper of Elizabethtown, KY; Donna (Fran) Leerkes of North Carolina; Marla Russell (Bob) of Louisville, KY; Ann (Brian) Schillings of Indiana, and Hazel Russell (Mike) of Munfordville, KY

  • Seven grandchildren - Riley Joe Harper, Joe Darrell Harper, Payton Harper, Jordon Rowe, Travis Shirley, Katy Shirley and Amber Shirley

  • An aunt - Ann Crabtree of Indiana

  • Several nieces, nephews and cousins

  • Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Fay Rigney, and Flora Jean and Karen Harper.
