She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Greensburg, KY. She was member of a leading South Central Kentucky family, the daughter of the late Shed and Lottie Penick Haskins, and the widow of Joe Mitchell. She leaves sons and daughters in Adair, Green, and Taylor Counties of Kentucky, and in Illinois. Her direct- and step- living descendants number 53. Her final resting place will be in the Mitchell Cemetery in Green County, KY.

Doris Dean Haskins Mitchell, 84, Greensburg, KY, departed this life Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

Funeral services for Doris Dean Haskins Mitchell will be at 12pmNoonCT, Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the 2nd Baptist Church, 412 Cook Street, Greensburg, Kentucky. The wake and visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Friday, July 27, 2018, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY. Ministers will be Rev. Michael Caldwell, Eulogy; and Rev. Morris Dean Williams, Master of Ceremony. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery, Greensburg, KY.



Pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Brandon Gowdy, Miles Williams, Jason Davis, Cody Mitchell, and Troy Shively

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Johnson, Timmy Davis, Marion Haskins, Roy Johnson, Paul Haskins, H.D. Johnson, and David Haskins

Doris Dean Haskins Mitchell, Green County, KY (1933-2018)

Doris Dean Haskins Mitchell was born August 29, 1933 in Green County, KY to the late Shed and Lottie Penick Haskins. She departed this life Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, having attained the age of eighty-four years, ten months and twenty-five days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Greensburg.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Mitchell; son James Nelson Mitchell, sisters and brothers, Sally Anderson, Columbus Haskins, Mary Lucy Johnson, Penick Haskins and Spencer Haskins.

She is survived by:
  • Five sons: Ronald and Tina Davis Mitchell of Columbia, KY; George R. Mitchell of Greensburg, KY; Ralph E. and Patricia Mitchell of North Aurora, IL; Josiah "Jodie" and Teresa Mitchell of Campbellsville, KY; and Roderick "Rudy" Mitchell of Greensburg, KY

  • Two daughters: Phenelphia D. Williams of Batavia, IL; and Catherine E. and Thomas Kleinfieldt of Aurora, IL

  • One step-son: Gary Harris of Bardstown, KY

  • One brother: Milton Ray and wife Mattie Haskins of Louisville, KY

  • Twenty grandchildren

  • Twenty-five great grandchildren.
Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
