By Ofc Josh Brockman Public Information Officer
Columbia Police Department, Chief Jason Cross

The health associated risk of drug use goes beyond the use of the illegal substance itself.

Columbia Police Officers are routinely removing syringes from our sidewalks, ditch lines, parking lots and here recently our parks.

In the latest removal officer John Dial and K-9 Gunner were training at a local park.

Gunner immediately went toward the playground equipment located at the city park and give Officer Dial a positive hit signal.

When Dial looked to see what he had found he discovers Gunner was actually alerting on some syringes on the playground equipment .

We remind parents to be vigilant and if they see drugs or paraphernalia call us. We will come dispose of properly.
