By Amber Wright, communications assistant, Office of University Communications

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- KB, a Christian hip-hop artist and music executive from St. Petersburg, Fla., will perform at Campbellsville University on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 at 6pmCT/7pmET in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, KY.

KB, Kevin Burgess (KB) of Tampa, Fla., is the leader of the hip-hop group HGA and is a member of the Reach Records-based hip-hop collective 116 Clique, an American Southern Christian hip-hop collective from Dallas, Texas.

"Today We Rebel" addresses what rebel means in today's political and social climate. "It is an exercise in zeal and imagination, no thrills or filters, just raw, uncut transparency," KB's "about me" page reads. "It's a lot more introspective," KB said, via his website.

"The older you get, the more aware you become of the human struggle, and the struggle in your own heart," he said.

"Who is KB?" was KB's first mixtape, released in 2011, which was soon followed by his first debut album "Weight and Glory" in July 17, 2012.

The album was critically acclaimed.

He released his first EP (extended play) on March 4, 2014. And his second album, "Tomorrow We Live," was released on April 21, 2014.

The track "100" from the EP of the same name, took home the Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Song of the Year in 2014, and his last "Tomorrow We Live" album garnered both critical and commercial acclaim, earning a Stellar Award nomination for Rap/Hip-Hop Gospel CD of the Year and debuting on the Billboard charts as the No. 1 Christian Album and the No. 4 Rap Album overall.

His hit singles include: "Hello," "Zone Out," "Get Off," "100," "Sideways," "Crown of Thorns," "Ima Just Do It," "Tempo," "HomeTeam," "Monster" and "No Chains."
