Hopes sofa sign 'No Dogs' more effective than signs in Columbia

Effective signage

Charles Marshburn writes:
Our old couch has been broken in by our English setter and our golden retriever. I'm going to put a sign on the new couch which will read, "no dogs!". Hope it has more effect than the countless road signs in Columbia. - Charles Marshburn
Thanks, Charles Marshburn - Maybe you could volunteer to patrol Columbia as the a member of the Sign Police. Certainly needed. I think I agree with you, to a degree, but would like more specificity. You may be referring to the one-time sign at the Columbia Cemetery, "No Dogs," which was derisively laughed out of town when it was reported that Shaw Rowe was seen pointing to the sign and saying, "Here, Fluffy, read this." It may be apocryphal, but next to the "bee law," passed by a Columbia City Council, prohibiting bees in the City of Columbia, it is one of the funnier well-intentioned misguided ordinances ever. - EW
