Joyce J. Coe, 79, Russell County, KY (1938-2018)

She was a native of Jamestown, KY, and a resident of the city at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Edna (Gaskin) & Hiram Bernard, and the widow of John Coe, Jr. She was the matriarch of a highly regarded family. She leaves 19 direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Knight Cemetery in her hometown.

Joyce Coe, 79, of Jamestown, KY, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at her home.

Funeral services for Joyce J. Coe will be at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, at 11amCT, Wednesday, June 27, 2018, with Pastor Fred Calkins officiating. Friends may visit after 5pmCT, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, funeral home. Burial will be in the Knight Cemetery in Jamestown, KY.

She was born in Jamestown, Russell County, KY on August 20, 1938. She was a daughter of the late Edna (Gaskin) & Hiram Bernard. She died Sunday, June 24, 2018, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 10 months, and four days.

She is survived by:
  • Three sons: Boyd (Liz) Coe, Corbin, KY; Barry (Linda) Coe, of Ooltewah, TN; and Vincent Coe, of Jamestown, KY

  • Two daughters: Belinda (Rick) Antle and Bridget (Danny Joe) Emerson, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • Three sisters: Polly Pickett, Jamestown, KY; Vivian Jordan, of California; and Rhonda Jeffus, of Florida.

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Coe, Jr.; sisters Nilla Bernard, and Millie Knight; and two brothers Billy and George Bernard.
