We Love Dogs project aids Metcalfe Animal Shelter Money raised, added to seed money of $250, includes $541.75 from ribeye sales plus over $400 in donations allows group to buy three dog kennels and tops and two pallets of paving stones. Click on headline for complete story with w/photo(s) By Chris Lagermann, Red Lick United Methodist Church Red Lick United Methodist Church recently completed a project entitled "We Love Dogs". Thrivent Financial helped sponsor the event with "seed money" of $250. The church spent Friday and Saturday at the local IGA store cooking ribeye sandwiches, hamburgers and hotdogs and raised $541.75. They also collected donations of over $400. We were able to purchase three dog kennels and tops from TSC (thanks to the generosity of Manager Keith Crump in Glasgow) and two pallets of paving stones. This week Tug and Cyndi Rillings, Ed Jessee and Bill and Chris Lagermann got together at the Metcalfe County Animal Shelter and laid paving stones on sand, and put up two of the kennels. The third one will be used at a later time. Doc and Donna Lafever were very grateful for the new shelters. Members of the church also donated toys and dog treats which were a big hit with the dogs. If you are looking for a new pet, be sure to check out the shelter. They have quite a selection of dogs needing new forever homes. This story was posted on 2018-06-23 22:06:11
