James Raymond Followell, Casey County, KY (1963-2018)

November 18, 1963 ~ May 18, 2018 (Age 54)

He was a self-employed woodworker. He loved country music, dancing, and gardening. James also liked going to the dirt track races. He was the son of the late Elzie & Kathleen Ramsey Followell, one of 12 children born to their union. With his passing, nine siblings survive to mourn James' passing and carry on his legacy.

James Raymond Followell, 54, of Liberty, KY passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral services are at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Monday, May 21, 2018 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Sunday evening, May 20, 2018, at the funeral home.



James Raymond Followell, Casey County, KY (1963-2018)


Born November 18, 1963 in Marion County, KY, he was the son of the late Elzie and Kathleen Ramsey Followell. He died Friday, May 18, 2018, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 54 years, six months.

James was a self-employed woodworker. He loved country music, dancing, and gardening. James also liked going to the dirt track races.

Survivors include:
  • Two brothers: Foster (Pat) Followell and Robert (Leeann) Followell, both of Casey County, KY

  • Seven sisters: Juanita Followell of Taylor County, KY Mary Allen of Casey County, KY; Nancy (Nathan) Dewitt of Marion County, KY; Glenda (Jesse) Shoopman of Casey County, KY; Eunice (Keith) Miller of Marion County, KY; Rachel (Thomas) Long of Taylor County, KY; and Edna Shreve of Taylor County, KY

  • And a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Cox and Margie Richards.

    In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses or to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
