LWC devotes a week to student Academic, Artistic Talents

Events start today, Wed 02 May 2018 and include four theatre department performances, annual spring concert and band concert, and the Lindsey Wilson Singers and LWC Chorale in concert with members of the Louisville Symphony in concert at the Columbia Christian Church. COLUMBIA, KY - (Tue 01 May 2018) - Lindsey Wilson College will conclude a week of academic celebration with concerts by the LWC concert and jazz band, the LWC chorale ensembles and four performances by the LWC theatre program.

The college community kicked off Academic Celebration Week on April 30. The week showcases the projects, ideas and talents of more than 200 LWC undergraduate students.



LWC students from various disciplines use the week-long event to present undergraduate research and senior projects developed throughout the 2017-18 school year.
"Academic Celebration Week is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of our students and to recognize that each one brings unique gifts and talents to the College," said Vice President of Academic Affairs Patricia Parrish. "We are fortunate to have a week to celebrate all that our students, under the guidance of our faculty, have accomplished in the past year."

- Four theatre performances - The week will also feature four performances of And Then They Came For Me by the Lindsey Wilson Theatre Program at 7pmCT, Wed-Thu-Fri, May 2-4 2018 and at 2pmCT on Sun, May 6, 2018, in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street.

- The annual Spring concert and jazz band performance will take place at 7 pmCT on Friday May 4, 2018, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive.

- LWC Singers/Chorale with Louisville Symphony: And the Spring Music Gala will conclude the week-long celebration of academic excellence. The annual concert, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin, will feature the LWC Singers and chorale ensembles with members of the Louisville Symphony.

The performance will include selections from the Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) Laudate Jehovam and Mozart's Piano Concerto #23 with pianist Jesse LaGrange of Burkesville, KY. The concert begins at 7pmCT Sunday, May 6, 20-189, at Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.
