Catching up with the Thierys - 30 years after recruitment here Favorite Family Photo: Doug & Diane Thiery The Thierys, whose Adair County roots were planted deep three decades ago, have been a major contributing factor in Adair County's growing health care importance. Thanks to Dorina Thiery Green, folks who know the Thierys and affiliated families will learn connections they had not know about a warm, wonderful friend. Related: Thiery family's 5K run/walk at LWC will help fund scholarship STORY Compiled by Ed Waggener from information from Linda Waggener and most importantly, from Diane Thiery's daughter, Dorina Thiery Green They have played a huge role in the lives of Adair County, they are as much Adair Countian as families who have lived here over two centuries, and are still here. Most importantly, they are Adair Countians by Choice, not chance. Today, many of the extended family, drawn to Adair County by Diane and her late husband, Douglas Arnold Thiery, who died October 23, 2017, have moved here, been born here, are employed here, and who now coalesce around their matriarch, Diane Thiery, with Columbia the headquarters for the clan. They have been a most generous and giving family to the community. And now, following a great family loss, they hope to give back by starting a scholarship in memory of Doug Thiery, with the first fundraising event this morning at Lindey Wilson College. On a request from her mother to share information about the college graduates she is so dearly proud of, and with few hours notice, their daughter Dori, put together a list of Adair County educated Thiery family members. Adair County-educated members of the Thiery family Complied by Dorina Thiery Green - Dorina Green - Middle daughter of Douglas and Diane Thiery. Graduated LWC (1996) BA elementary education endorse 5-8.Graduated Campbellsville college (2005) masters curriculum instruction. Will graduate (August 2018) University of Cumberlands rank 1 masters as education specialist in instructional supervision, currently employed at Metcalfe County Schools as visual and performing arts teacher. Married to Kevin Green, Navy Veteran, Haydon Bridge operator/carpenter, and has five children Alicia Burton, Ed (Eddie) Colon, Abigayle Colon, Jenifer Green and Emily Colon.Diane Thiery, ARNP, and her family are especially important to both Linda and me, in large part because of our role in recruiting her for Dr. Phil Aaron to Aaron Medical Center to serve as a nurse practitioner here. It is surprising even to us how the family has grown and been educated; we try to keep up with the latest members of the Thierys in happenstance meetings with them at various local events, where Diane is rarely seen without being accompanied by one or more of her beautiful, talented, and frequently latest additions to her family. Diane credits Doug who she says did it all, from diapers to college visits, taking care of family while she worked in healthcare. The scholarship in his memory is about who he was as a servant, always helping his family and others, all his life. This story was posted on 2018-04-28 04:38:19
