By George Critz

I met Mr. Coomer my first year of coaching at ACHS where he was principal at the time. He was a dedicated educator for 35 years, and as principal, he once told me he knew every students' name at the school. AMAZING! At that time there would have been over 1,000 students. As a former principal myself, this to me seems impossible.
He never married so his immediate family was always the people of Adair Co. Service to these people was his top priority. He would take athletes to and from practice and games for many years, which helped coaches (like me) but, much more importantly, he was helping Adair Counties youth. He loved and followed sports and was doing his part to help his local sports teams. He continued this long after he retired.

On Sundays and any other day the church doors were open he would drive people to and from church. He also would take people to and from doctor appointments. In other words, many weeks he would taxi people seven days a week. He did this as long as he physically could.

He always worked for what he thought was right and was very loyal to whatever cause he believed in.

I will profoundly miss Mr. Coomer - one of the finest men I have ever met.

Sincerely,

/s/ George A. Critz
