Northpoint prison, Boyle Co., KY, has power outage

Visitation cancelled at Medium security Northpoint Training Center, north of Danville, KY, due to power loss.

(Received 12:18pmCT/Sun 01 Apr 2018) - Saturday, March 31, 2018, at approximately 3:13pmET, , Northpoint Training Center, a medium security prison in Boyle County, experienced a power loss.

Electrical wiring on an electric pole outside of the prison caught fire causing the outage. The main generator also failed.



Kentucky Utilities, electrical contractors, and Northpoint Training Center maintenance staff have been on site throughout the night to resolve the issue.

Activities at the prison, including visits, have been canceled until further notice. The prison will return to normal operations once power is restored.
