COLUMBIA, KY - (Wed 28 Mar 2018) - U.S. Congressman James Comer was invited to Lindsey Wilson College for a luncheon with students and a tour of campus on Wednesday.

The congressman's visit to LWC was part of his scheduled morning stop in Columbia which included a town hall meeting at the Adair County Judicial Center.

While on campus, the congressman had lunch with members of LWC's student government, Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr., First Lady Elise Luckey and Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management Dean Adams.

"Congressman Comer faithfully executes the duties of his office and we are honored to have him on campus today," said Luckey. "He understands how important higher education is to Kentucky's future and it is reassuring to have his representation in Washington."

First-generation college student and business administration sophomore Jakob Beckley from Pleasureville, KY, says he was excited to introduce Rep. Comer to LWC.

"For most of us Lindsey Wilson has changed our lives, so it was a privilege to share our experiences with him," said Beckley. "Congressman Comer is from a small town and he understands, better than most, the challenges many rural high school students face when deciding on college.

The visit concluded with a walk-through of the iconic John B. Begley Chapel and a tour of LWC's state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab housed in the Dr. Robert and Carol Goodin Nursing & Counseling Center.

"The Lindsey Wilson nursing lab is quite impressive," said Comer. "I appreciate when I go to a school and see they have a program that's cranking out qualified graduates that are in high demand."
