West Monroe, LA - (Sun 11 Mar 2018) - Lindsey Wilson Cyclist Dustin Hammond captured the men's individual national title today at the USA Cycling BMX National Championships.

Hammond's win marks the 19th individual national championship for a Lindsey Wilson cyclist.

Blue Raider cycling finished second in the team competition, behind national champion Marian (IN). Lindsey Wilson posted 166 team points over the two days. Marian ended with 188 team points while Colorado Mesa finished third with 146 points.

Hammond tallied 294 points for his finishes in the two main races over the weekend.

He won three motos and today's main to never finish below third in any of his 10 races during the two days.

Cyclists compete in three motos (heats) to qualify for the two eight-person semifinals. The top four finishers in each semifinal advance to the eight-person final. Cyclists collect points based on their finishes in the semifinals and finals.

Hammond posted a third-place finish in yesterday's main race before winning today's race to claim the title with the most points in the two-day event. Hammond finished fourth at last year's national championships.

Colorado Mesa's Collin Hudson finished second in the men's individual with 276 points.

Anthony Luccesi finished eighth and Corey Ross ninth overall to give the Blue Raiders three inside the top-10. Ross competed in the final main today, posting a seventh-place finish.

Elida Beeman and Heather Collman recorded top-10 finishes on the women's side.

Beeman finished third in both Saturday and Sunday's main races to secure a place on the podium with a third-place finish. Beeman ended with 260 points in the event. Collman -- whose best finish in the main was a fifth on Saturday - ended with 179 points to tie for sixth place overall.

Marian's Felicia Stancil won the women's individual title with 328 points, winning both main races.

Lindsey Wilson's runner-up finish is their sixth-straight second-place finish at BMX nationals. The Blue Raiders won the inaugural BMX national championship in 2012.
