Stephen Sanders, 60, Knifley, Adair County, KY (1957-2018)

He was known and widely respected, particularly in Adair, Casey & Taylor Counties by many, having served the community well as a co-owner of Service Cleaners in Campbellsville, KY. When not working at the cleaners, he could often be found farming, an avocation he really enjoyed. He was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Clementsville, Casey County, KY, where he served in several roles including the Parish Council. He also served on the Revisit Knifley Committee. His final resting place will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, beside the church he loved.

Stephen Lyle Sanders, 60 years, of Knifley, KY, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018, peacefully after an illness, at his home with his family by his side.

The Funeral Mass for Stephen Lyle Sanders will be held at 10amCT/11amET, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 5075 KY 551, Liberty, KY, in the Casey County community of Clementsville, with Rev. George Otuma officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Bernard Catholic Church Cemetery on the church campus, with casket bearers being, Charles Sanders, Timothy Sanders, Gregory Wethington, Mike Wethington, Paul Eastridge and Randall Thompson. The family request visitation 1pm-7pmCT/2pm-8pmET, Monday, March 12, 2018 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, 503 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY with Prayer Service being held at 5pmCT/6pmET.



Stephen Sanders, 60, Taylor County, KY (1957-2018)


Stephen was born in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, on December 23, 1957. He was the son of the late James Sherwood & Exzilda Wethington Sanders. He died Thursday, March 8, 2018, at home in Knifley, KY, the age of 60 years, two months, and 13 days.

Also preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his brother-in-law, Carl Sandidge, Sr.

He was known by many, having served the community well, as a co-owner of Service Cleaners. When not working at the Cleaners, you would often find him farming which he enjoyed. He was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where he served in several roles including the Parish Council. He also served on the Revisit Knifley Committee.

He is survived by:
  • A brother: James Byron Sanders and wife Wanda, Campbellsville, KY

  • Three sisters: Karen Jane Richerson and Frieda Lynn Sandidge all of Campbellsville, KY; and Marsha Rhea Spires and husband Tommy of Louisville, KY

  • Six nieces and nephews" Brian Thomas Spires, Tonya Rhea Dunn, Mark Richerson, Natalie Brinley, Carl Sandidge and Ashley Kruel

  • Nine great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces

The family request that expressions of sympathy be donations to St. Bernard Catholic Church, American Cancer Society or Hosparus Health of Green River and may be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
