Herman Cook, 76, Green County, KY (1941-2018)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion in Campbellsville. He was a Stock Manager for Houchens Industries, where he retired after 37 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was the patriarch of a highly respected family. He was the son of the late Ulys Warren Cook & Cora Velma Atwell Cook. His wife, Judy Wright Cook, survives. He leaves six direct and two step- living descendants

Herman Cook, 76, departed this life Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

The funeral service will be at 1pmCT, Monday, February 19, 2018, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT, Sunday, February 18, 2018, and after 7amCT, Monday. Ministers will be Rev. Landon Hadley and Rev. Todd Young. Burial will be Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY with Military Honors. Pallbearers: Kerry Davis, Kyle Davis, Victor Matney, Roger Benningfield, Vernon Ray White, and Mike Ingram. Honorary pallbearers will be The Morning Golfers and Dale Houk.



Herman Cook, 76, Green County, KY (1941-2018)


Herman Cook was born April 12, 1941 in Green County, KY. He was the son of the late Ulys Warren Cook & Cora Velma Atwell Cook. He died Thursday, February 15, 2018, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and three days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion in Campbellsville. He was a Stock Manager for Houchens Industries, where he retired after 37 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters: Varnam L. Cook, Glendon Cook, Ada Jean Wilson, Glaydean Bryant, Ernestine Whitlow and Catherine White.

He is survived by his wife Judy Wright Cook, and the following:
  • Two sons and daughters-in-law: Bryan K and Angela Cook of Columbia, KY; and Brad and Deanna Cook of Louisville, KY

  • One brother and sister-in-law: Woodrow and Nora Jane Cook of Greensburg, KY

  • One sister: Burnestine Benningfield of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Becca, Winston, Matthew and Ethan Cook
  • Two step grandchildren: Alex and Kate Durham

  • Two special fur babies: Reesey and Speckles

  • Plus a host of other relatives and friends

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to The Disabled American Veterans or to St. Jude's Hospital. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
