Mary Hortense Wright, 79, Greensburg, KY (1938-2018)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Grider Chapel United Methodist Church in Russell County, KY. She was born in Russell County, KY, and was a resident of Green County, KY, a the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Garner & Cora Mann Garner, and the widow of Charles David Wright, 55 years. She leaves seven direct living descendants. She was also a machine operator for the former Jan Mar Company.

Mary Hortense Garner Wright of Greensburg, KY departed this life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 79 years old.

The funeral services for Mary Hortense Garner Wright will be conducted at 10amCT, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Bro. Twyman Davis will be officiating.

Pallbearers: Kim Cape, Ruth Campbell, Becky Antle, T.J. Cape, Ryan Sanders, Tony Cape, Josh Campbell, and Jackie Campbell.

Honorary Pallbearers: Dottie Compton, Gladys Cape, Brenda Helm, Lisa Grider, Faye Grider, Faye Grider, Minnie Bradshaw, and Jean Rowe.

Mary Hortense Garner Wright of Greensburg, Green County, KY, daughter of the late Clarence Garner & Cora Mann Garner, was born on Wednesday, July 6, 1938 in Russell County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 79 years, 7 months, and 5 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Grider Chapel United Methodist Church in Russell County. She was also a machine operator for the former Jan Mar Company.

She united in marriage to Charles David Wright on November 26, 1960 who preceded her in death on February 5, 2016.

Survivors include:
  • A son: David Owen Wright and his companion, Tammy DeSpain both of Summersville, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Chasity Michelle Deering of Loretto, KY; and Ryan Sanders of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four great-grandchildren: Brianna Michelle Sanders of Campbellsville, KY; and Khloe Deering, Isabella Spalding, and Braxton Spalding all of Loretto, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Wright was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers: Francis Sullivan, Margie Dykes, Nanny Dykes, Cecil Back, Hazel Green, Dennis Garner, and Jesse Garner.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Family Burial Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
