Sycamore Springs: Kudos for good people in times like these Praise for the state and county road crews, for Sherri & Mike at Highway 61 Store, and more Click on headline for complete newsletter Cynthia A Meyer News from Sycamore Springs and Breeding, KY With the recent barrage of winter weather, trying to be prepared sometime we come up short. In times of adverse conditions it is wonderful to see those that brave the elements to minimize or eliminate the threat for other. Coming in 55 from Campbellsville late last night the roads in Taylor County were snow covered to the point where you could not see the yellow line at all, the only way you had any idea you were on your own side of the road was your tires would hit the rumble strips in the middle. Once you cross the Taylor/Adair County line, you could not help but notice that the roads in Adair County had been maintained and salted. Granted, there were some points the snow and recaptured the road, but you could at least see if you were driving on your side of the road. So a big Thank You to Terry Harvey and the Adair County Road crews to their tireless work in trying to maintain safe roads. And on a slightly different note: I called the folks at Highway 61 Mart this afternoon, explaining I had to venture out to get feed for my senior horse, and was wondering the condition of Highway 61? Since they did not have my feed in stock, Sherri said she would phone Mike and ask him to pick a bag for me, and would even drop it by if I could not get out. Ed, it is times like now that tests the true fiber of folks. The road crews and police officers that keep our roads safer, the neighbor who is headed to town and ask " Ya need anything?" Thank you to all of them! --Cynthia A Meyer This story was posted on 2018-01-16 20:41:36
