Betty Jean Flaynik, 92, Adair County, KY (1925-2018)

Mrs. Flaynik was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was the manager of the Shepherd Shop for 13 years. She was formerly of Illinois and Florida. She last resided in Columbia, Adair County, KY. She was the matriarch of a very large, respected family, with many settled in Columbia, KY, her adopted home, as well as elsewhere.

Betty Jean Flaynik, 92 of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Vincents Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, while visiting her children.

There will be no visitation or memorial services held. Cremation was chosen.

She was born July 10, 1925 in Pontiac, Livingston County, IL. She died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Jacksonsonville, FL, at the age of 92 years, five monthsm and 23 days.

She was formerly of Illinois and Florida. She last resided in Columbia, KY.

Mrs. Flaynik was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was the manager of the Shepherd Shop for 13 years.

She was preceded in death by a son Michael McFarland and a step son Raymond McFarland

She is survived by:
  • Seven sons: Patrick (Edna) of Joliet, IL; John (Chris) of Joliet, IL; Donald (Rita) of Hinsdale, IL; James McFarland of Columbia, KY; William McFarland of Columbia, KY; Roger McFarland of Jacksonville, FL; Robert (Lorraine) Sutton of St. Augustine, FL

  • Four Daughters: Virginia (James) Alessio of Shorewood, IL; Paula (Don) Murrell of Chelsea, MI; Mary (Thomas) Claudio of Jacksonville, FL; and Lori Greek of St. Augustine, FL

  • And by Brenda Pendleton, who was like a daughter to her.

  • Numerous grandchildren

  • and great grandchildren
