Ellen Faye Cowherd, Taylor Co./Ohio Co., KY native (1928-2017) 
She was a beloved Taylor County teacher who was very active in church and civic affairs. She had served on the local Soil Conservation Board. She attended Russell Creek Academy (Campbellsville College) and Georgetown College before receiving her Bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky State Teacher's College (Western Kentucky University). She went on to teach and retired from the Taylor County School System with over twenty-five years in elementary education. A member of Early Chapel United Methodist Church, she was active in United Methodist Women, the Order of the Eastern Star, Homemakers and had served on the Soil Conservation Board. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling on bus tours and going to Kroger. She was the daughter of the late Strather E. & Virgie Bennett Hunter and the widow of Theodore Cowherd. She was the widow of Theodore Cowherd who died on August 24, 1996. A brother Austin Hunter and sister, Ethel Hunter, also preceded her in death. Ellen attended Russell Creek Academy (Campbellsville College) and Georgetown College before receiving her Bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky State Teacher's College (Western Kentucky University).
