By Ed Waggener

Judge Mike Stephens gave the road department report, in the absence of Road Foreman Terry Corbin, at the regular meeting of Adair Fiscal Court, Tuesday, November 14, 2017.

He relayed information that the final round of mowing for the season was complete and that the department was getting ready for winter.

At the meeting, the biggest concern as winter approaches is a shortage of operators, following the death of Tom Brock, and the resignation of another operator.

Plans are to have the foreman, Terry Corbin, also have some duties as an operator of equipment and trucks.

The court is also looking at having fill-in, part time operators. Advertising for operators is planned.

Salt box purchases delayed for new trucks to arrive

An agenda item to purchase salt boxes for new Adair County Road Department trucks was postponed , awaiting the arrival of the trucks, due from the Don Franklin Family Group within the next two weeks. Quotes from dealer Tri-County Machine, Inc, of Russell Springs, KY, priced snowplows at $3,650 plus $600 installation, each, and Snowdogg Salt Spreader boxes at $3,336.50 plus $200 installation each.
