Ed Darnell: Dangerous Heartland Parkway is also ill-lit

By Ed Darnell
Opinions are personal viewpoint of the writer

I know that we have had a lot of discussion on highway 55. Not only do we have issues with the passing/turning lane and the high rate of speed that people are traveling both north and south bound, but another concern is how dark the road is leading out of town.

Once you go through the light at 55 and Fairgrounds street, there is very limited lighting all the way past Betty's OK Country Cooking. If not for the different businesses and Trinity there would be no lights. Is it any surprise that business is growing out by Walmart? Good roads, good lighting, and no confusing turning/passing lane.

If we want to bring in new business and increase the tax base of the city and county we have to provide the infrastructure needed.

Just me 2 cents. --Ed Darnell
