Roger Burton, 69, Adair County, KY (1948-2017)

Roger served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church, a Mason, and retired from General Electric. He was a member of a very popular, highly respected and loved Adair County, KY, family. His lineage was drawn from great old line Adair County families. He was the son of the late Ernest & Margaret Rice Dunn. He leaves one direct living descendant, a son, Roger Lee Burton; 7 siblings, and his grilfriend, Anita Durbin and a host of others to carry on his legacy.

Roger Burton, 69, of Columbia, KY, died Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2:55pmCT, at his home after a short illness.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Steve Willis officiating. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Monday, October 16, 2017. Masonic Rites by Columbia Lodge 96 will be at 7pmCT, Monday. The Patriot Guard will provide escort to Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, where full military honors will be rendered by VFW Post 6097, at committal rites. Burial in Haven Hill will follow.



Roger Burton, 69, Adair County, KY (1948-2017)


He was born August 25, 1948, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Ernest & Margaret Rice Dunn. He died Friday, October 13, 2017, at the age of 69 years, one month, and 18 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Kevin "Nator" Brockman.

Roger served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church, a Mason and retired from General Electric.

Survivors include:
  • One son: Roger Lee Burton of Mt. Washington, KY

  • One brother: Danny Brockman of Columbia, KY

  • Six sisters: Sharon Bates of Greensburg, Sherry Hodges of Bowling Green, KY; Donna Loy, Sandy Crawhorn and Connie Ferguson all of Columbia, KY; and Tonya Dunn of Louisville, KY

  • His girlfriend: Anita Durbin of Vine Grove, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends
