Clara Geneva Hayes, 96, Chelsea, MI, formerly of the the Glensfork Community of Adair County, KY, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Chelesa Retirement Center in Chelsea, MI.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will begin after 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

She was born in Creelsboro, Russell County, KY, March 24, 1921 the daughter of the late Fred & Jennie Ross Acree. She died Thursday, September 14, 2017, in Chelsea, Washtenaw County, MI, at the age of 96 years, five months, and 21 days.

She was preceded in death by a son, Winston Acree; and two brothers, Willis Acree and A. V. Acree

She is survived by:
  • One daughter: Silvia Doughty, of Saline, MI

  • Three granddaughters: Jenni Stacy (Scott) , Julie Keys (Beau)' and Jonnie Turner (Jim)
  • One sister: Reno Hoskinson and husband, Louisville, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
Mrs. Hayes was of the Methodist faith and was retired from the University of Michigan
