Ambers Wilkinson, Sr., Casey County, KY (1935-2017)

He was a native of Casey County, KY, was retired following a career in Fayette County, KY, and was a resident of Boyle County, KY at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Edward H. & Cora E. Wilkinson. His wife Edith Allen Wilkinson, survives. He leaves 25 direct living descendants. Ambers was a farmer and a retired worker for the Sanitation Department in Fayette County. At a young age, Ambers accepted Christ, was baptized and became a member of Pine Lick Baptist Church in Mount Salem, KY. Ambers always had a good sense of humor and loved his family.

Ambers Wilkinson, Sr. of Danville, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 82 years young.

Funeral services are 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Reverend Jerry Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 10am-12pmNoonCT/11am-1pmET, Wednesday at the funeral home.



Ambers pallbearers will be, Edward Smith, Jason Smith, Geovonia Coleman, Jr, Paul Wilkinson, Jr, James Murphy and Christian McDowell.

Honorary pallbearers are, Malik Wilkinson, TaySean Coleman, Bradley Jones, Christopher Jones Aaron Bertram.

Born March 22, 1935 on Indian Creek in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Edward H. & Cora E. Wilkinson. He died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 82 years, five months, and 15 days.

Ambers was a farmer and a retired worker for the Sanitation Department in Fayette County. At a young age, Ambers accepted Christ, was baptized and became a member of Pine Lick Baptist Church in Mount Salem, KY. Ambers always had a good sense of humor and loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Mae Wilkinson of Danville, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Emanuel Gray & Ambers Wilkinson, Jr., both of Danville, KY

  • Two daughters:: Cora "Sissi" Hamilton and Ruby (Doug) Walker, both of Danville, KY

  • One brother: Hobert (Barbara) Wilkinson of Zanesville, Ohio

  • One sister: Bertha (Garnett) Sweeney of Liberty, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Twelve great-grandchildren

  • One great-great-grandchild
  • And a host of nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Ambers is preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Carl and Paul Wilkinson, Sr; and four sisters, Ruby Edwards, Beulah Pack, Edith Patton and Ruth Goins.
