LWC Celebrates 14th Annual Couch Night

By Venus Popplewell, Director, Public Relations
Lindsey Wilson College

Over 250 Lindsey Wilson College students hauled couches to Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Wednesday night, September 5, 2017, for the matchup between No. 10 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer vs No. 16 Baker (Kan.).

The annual event, coined as "Couch Night", is sponsored by the LWC Student Government Association (SGA). The event originated in 2003 under then SGA President Brian Smith of Louisville, Ky. Smith graduated from LWC in 2004.

Couch Night occurs every fall at Walter S. Reuling Stadium during a LWC soccer game. SGA spends all morning and afternoon collecting couches for students and taking them to the sideline of the soccer field. For every couch or make-shift "couch" brought to the stadium, students receive one large pizza.

According to current SGA President, Morgan Sexton, Couch Night is a legendary LWC event that students look forward to every year.

"Couch Night is such a huge part of the culture at LWC," says Sexton. "It builds community and it's a unique, shared experience that the whole campus relates to. As cheesy as it sounds, this event really brings the campus together."

The LWC Women's Soccer game ended in a draw.

The next LWC Women's Soccer game is against University of Northwestern Ohio (Ohio.) at 5pm CT, Friday, September 9, 2017, at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY.

Tge next LWC Men's Soccer game is against Union College (KY) at 7pm CT, Friday, September 9, 2017, at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY
