Archaeology Festival at Wickliffe Mounds, Sat 23 Sep 2017 If you go: According to Google Maps, Wickliffe is approximately 250 miles, under 4 hours west of the Historic Adair County Courthouse, Columbia, KY By Carla Hildebrand News from Kentucky State Parks WICKLIFFE, KY - Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site, 94 Green Street, Highway 51-60-62, Wickliffe, KY. will host an Archaeology Festival on 9am-4pmCT, Saturday, September 23, 2017, as part of Archaeology Month. This event is included in the museum admission of $5 adults, $4 kids and seniors. Contacts: Park Office, 270-335-3681 or email carla.hildebrand@ky.gov. The day will feature special demonstrations and hands-on activities for children. Activities include a mock excavation for kids, artifact laboratory station, spear and atlatl throwing (See wiki/Spear-thrower)), youth bows and arrows, flint knapping, finger weaving, basket weaving, corn shuck dolls, and make and take home a pottery craft. Wickliffe Mounds is an archaeological site of a Native American village of the Mississippian culture.
