Unemployment up July 2017 v July 2016 in all CM 7-County area

County jobless rates released for July 2016 and July 2017. Unemployment was up in all 7 CM area counties, Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and in July 2016 vs. July 2017.

7-County Area Unemployment Comparison
July 2016 vs July 2017; ranked best to worst joblessness July 2017
  1. Metcalfe Co. unemployment, up from 4.6%, 2016, to 5.1%, 2017
  2. Casey Co. unemployment, up from 4.6%, 2016, to 5.5%, 2017
  3. Cumberland Co. unemployment, up from 5.0%, 2016, to 5.7%, 2017
  4. Green Co. unemployment, up from 4.5%, 2016, to 6.0%, 2017
  5. Taylor Co. unemployment, up from 5.5%, 2016, to 6.3%, 2017
  6. Adair Co. unemployment, up from 6.8%, 2016, to 7.5%, 2017
  7. Russell Co. unemployment, up from 7.3%, 2016, to 7.7%, 2017
For July 2017, the Lake Cumberland Area Development District unemployment rate rose from 6.0% in July 2016 to 6.9% in July 2017, while the Barren River Area Development District, which includes Metcalfe County, rose from 4.2% in July 2016 to 5.0% in July 2017.



For the month of July 2017, the national unemployment rate was 4.6%; the rate for the Commonwealth of Kentucky was 5.9% for July 2017.
