Woody Gosser, 74, Russell County, KY (1943-2017)

He was a faithful member of Salem United Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School class served as church clerk for 39 years. He was an educator, supporting and representing teachers as the Kentucky Educational Association (KEA) Uniserv Director for the Middle Cumberland Region for over 37 years. He also enjoyed farming in his spare time. He was the son of the late Finis & Dorthy Popplewell Gosser. He devoted and loving wife, Alice Cooper Gosser, survives. He leaves five direct living desendants.

Woody Gosser, 74, of Russell Springs, KY, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.

Funeral service for Woody Gosser will be 11amCT, Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Salem United Baptist Church, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Larold Gosser officiating. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 8amCT Monday, at the funeral home. Interment in the Square Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Gosser, John Gosser, Joe Gosser, Samuel Gosser, Kevin O'Dell, and Jorge Garcia. Special Music by the Salem Church Choir and congregation.



Woody Gosser, 74, Russell County, KY (1943-2017)


Woody Gosser was born February 17, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son the late Finis & Dorthy Popplewell Gosser. He died Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 74 years, six months, and eight days.

At a young age, Woody accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and became a faithful member of Salem United Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School class served as church clerk for 39 years. Woody was an educator, supporting and representing teachers as the Kentucky Educational Association (KEA) Uniserv Director for the Middle Cumberland Region for over 37 years. He also enjoyed farming in his spare time.

Survivors include his devoted and loving wife, Alice Cooper Gosser, and the following:
  • Three children: Amy (Kevin) O'Dellm John Gosser, and Joe (Julianne) Gosser

  • One brother: Wayne Gosser

  • Two grandchildren: Andy O'Dell and Anna Gosser

  • A host of supportive cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and a special caregiver, Connie Worley.

    In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Gosser.
