Jean Pickett, 84, Adair County, KY (1932-2017)

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church, retired from Fruit of the Loom after 30+ years and worked as an aid at Colonel William Casey for seven years. She was a member of a large, respected family. She was the daughter of the late James Henry & Mollie Burris and the widow of Morris Pickett. She leaves six direct living descendants.

Jean Pickett, 84, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 6:36pmCT, at the T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, with Bro. Terry White, Bro. Raymond Martin & Bro. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at the funeral home.



Jean Pickett, 84, Adair County, KY (1932-2017)


She was born September 20, 1932 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late James Henry & Mollie Burris. She died Sunday, August 13, 2017, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Pickett on April 8, 1976; one daughter, Cynthia Munday; three brothers, Jr., Robert & Ken Burris; and four sisters, Lula Reliford, Dorthy Moss, Lucille Chapman & Katherine Morrison.

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church, retired from Fruit of the Loom after 30+ years and worked as an aid at Colonel William Casey for seven years.

Survivors include:
  • One son: Mark (Sharon) Pickett of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Valerie (Marshall) Barnett of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Matt Pickett, Chad (Kim) Barnett, Clint Barnett & Cassy Barnett

  • Several other relatives and friends
