Walter Bennett, 83, Adair Co., KY native (1934-2017)

He was born in Gradyville, Adair County, KY. He was the son of rhte late Dallas Ray Bennett & Nora Katherine Wheeler Bennett. He leaves many brothers and sisters in Campbellsville, Columbia, Fairplay, Russell Springs, as well as Hart County, KY, in addition to his family in Indiana. He was a hardworking man, who loved his wife and family very much. He and his wife of 58 years, Katherine. married on July 30, 1959 after only two months of courtship. He worked as a machinist for Overton & Son in Mooresville for over 35 years, before retiring. He was also a member of the Shelby Street Lighthouse Church. He will be greatly missed

Walter Bennett, 83, of Mooresville, went to be with The Lord on August 8, 2017.

Funeral services will be held for Walter Bennett at 1pmCT/2pmET, Saturday, August 12, 2017, Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 East High Street Mooresville, IN, with visitation Saturday from 9amCT/10amET until time of the service. Burial will follow the services in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville, IN.



Walter Bennett, 83, Adair Co., KY native (1934-2017)


He was born June 21, 1934 in Gradyville, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Dallas Ray Bennett & Nora Katherine (Wheeler) Bennett. He died August 8, 2017, in Indiana at the age of 83 years, one month, and 18 days.

Walter was a simple, hardworking man, who loved his wife and family very much! He and his wife of 58 years, Katherine. married on July 30, 1959 after only two months of courtship. He was a true gentleman and brought coffee for his wife every day as they shared breakfast together. He also enjoyed gardening and would often bring his latest harvest of fresh vegetables to his friends and family to ensure they were well taken care of. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He worked as a machinist for Overton & Son in Mooresville for over 35 years, before retiring. He was also a member of the Shelby St. Lighthouse Church. He will be greatly missed by all! Survivors include:
  • His wife of 58 years, Katherine (Smith) Bennett

  • A son: Mike Bennett (Terri)

  • Daughters: Sheila Cagle (Mark) and Michelle Imhausen (Scott)

  • Four brothers: Donnie Bennett of Columbia, KY; David Bennett of Fairplay, KY; Sherman Bennett of Russell Springs, KY, and Ralph Bennett of Hart County, KY

  • Five sisters: Bernice Willis of Columbia, KY; Faye Clark & Leola Maupin of Campbellsville, KY; Barbara Hudson of Russell Springs, KY; and Rachel Hurst of Wisconsin

  • Grandchildren: Dustin (Brittni), Matthew, Bradley, Tyler, Adam, Cameron, and Madison

  • A great grandson: Owen

  • And several brothers and sisters
