Mildred Winfrey Hale, Russell County, KY (1925-2017)

She was the daughter of the late Charlie Ray & Chena Carnes Winfrey, and teh widow of Arles Hale. She served 42 years in the Russell County School System beginning as a teacher in a one-room Pleasant Point School, later at Russell Springs Elementary, and was a long time Supervisor of Instruction for the Russell County School District. She was a faithful member of the Russell Springs Christian Church. She was educated at Lindsey Wilson College, Eastern State College, and the University of Kentucky.

Mildred Winfrey Hale was born October 16, 1925 in Russell County, Kentucky. She went to her heavenly home July 26, 2017.

Funeral services will be at 10amCT, Saturday July 29, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY with Bro. Jeff Winfrey & Bro. Carroll Egnew officiating. Interment will be in the Hale Cemetery, Hale Cemetery Road, Russell Springs, KY. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Friday July 28, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

She was was born October 16, 1925, in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Ray & Chena Carnes Winfrey. She died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the age of 91 years, nine months, and 14 days.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arles V. Hale, on September 9, 2015, also, by her brother, Dr. Joe D. Winfrey.

Mildred served 42 years in the Russell County School System prior to retiring in 1989. She received her education from Lindsey Wilson College, Eastern State College and completed her masters degree at the University of KY.

She began her teaching career at Pleasant Point one room school. She taught second grade at Russell Springs Elementary for 11 years. In 1959, she became Supervisor of Instruction at the central office of Russell County Board of Education.

She was a faithful member of the Russell Springs Christian Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher and with a voice for singing, gave her talent to the choir.

Mildred is survived by nieces and nephews, Dr. Jeff Winfrey, Dawson Springs, KY. Jenny Winfrey, Dawson Springs, KY, Jon Winfrey, Lawrenceburg, KY, Donnie Hale, Russell Springs, KY, Cheryl Whitlock, Campbellsville, KY and Janna Smith, Russellville, Arkansas.

She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Faye Winfrey, Dawson Springs, KY, Betty Hale, Russell Springs, KY and Fostene Rexroat, Campbellsville, KY.
