Mrs. Virgie Ruth Spears Scott, 81, Burkesville, KY, passed away Monday July 17, 2017 at The Cumberland County Hospital, Burkesville. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10amCT, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in the Burkesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5pmCT, Thursday, July 20, 2017 until the funeral hour on Friday.

Mrs. Virgie Ruth Spears Scott, Cumberland Co. KY (1935-2017)

She was born in the Peytonsburg Community of Cumberland County, KY on Wednesday, October 9, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Emitt & Ethel Watson Spears. She died Monday, July 17, 2017, at the age of 81 years, nine months and eight days.

She is survived by:
  • Her husband: Kermit Scott, Burkesville, KY

  • Her sister: Betty McCool, Louisville, KY

  • A very special great-great nephew: Noah Young, Burkesville, KY

  • Several nieces and and several other nephews.
She was a member of The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, a homemaker, farmer and worked in the sewing factories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Spears and Christine Flowers; brother, Danny Randolph Spears; and nephew, Jamie Spears.
