Sandra Sue Southern, Taylor County, KY/Green County native (1943-2017)

Mrs. Southern professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville, and was a homemaker to and wife of Mr. James Southern, Sr., who survives. She spent countless hours outside working or raising a garden, and enjoyed finding bargains at area yard sales.

Mrs. Sandra Sue Southern of Campbellsville, KY, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her home after an extended illness.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Southern on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11amCT/12pmET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Jason Keltner will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Wednesday, May 17, 2017.



Mrs. Sandra Sue Southern, Taylor County, KY/Green County native (1943-2017)

Mrs. Sandra Sue Southern of Campbellsville, KY, was born in Green County on February 2, 1943. She was the daughter of late Harold and Rosie (Elmore) Milby. She died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her home at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 14 days of age.

Mrs. Southern professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville, and was a homemaker to and wife of Mr. James Southern, Sr., who survives.

She spent countless hours outside working or raising a garden, and enjoyed finding bargains at area yard sales. When inside, she kept her mind occupied by playing bingo on her computer or watching Family Feud, and was passionate about keeping up with her friends and family on facebook. Her long talks and late night cups of coffee with her family will be forever cherished.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

  • Her husband: James Southern, Sr. of Campbellsviile, KY

  • Three children: Kaye Milby and husband Ricky of Green County, KY; James Southern, Jr. and companion Tammy Childers of Campbellsville, KY; and Mark Southern and wife Amy of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three siblings: Holland Milby and wife Patty, Mike Milby, Sr., and Sharon Sharp and husband Randall, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Five grandchildren

  • Five great-grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And a host of extended family and friends
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Marcum and Doris Adelle Keltner.
