R.C. Weddle, Jr., Casey County, KY (1928-2017)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly distintuished Casey County, KY, family. He was a devoted deacon and member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church his entire life. He served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 60 years. He took great pride in his family and his farm. He enjoyed sports and traveling, including visiting all fifty states and their capitals. R.C. also visited several countries in North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean. His wife of 72 years, Alma Vida (Hatter) Weddle, survives. He leaves 21 living direct descendants.

R.C. (Rupert Christopher) Weddle, Jr., age 88, returned to his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2017 at his home on the same farm on which he lived his entire life.

The funeral service will be held at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church, 91 Weddle Drive, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Thursday, May 11, 2017 and 8am-10amCT/9am-11amET, at Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church on Friday May 12, 2017.

R.C. (Rupert Christopher) Weddle, Jr., age 88, was born on August 14, 1928 at Walnut Hill, Casey County, KY. He returned to his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2017 He was 88 years, eight months, and 24 days of age.

R.C. was a devoted deacon and member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church his entire life. He served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 60 years. He took great pride in his family and his farm. He enjoyed sports and traveling, including visiting all fifty states and their capitals. R.C. also visited several countries in North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean.

He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-two years, Alma Vida (Hatter) Weddle, and the folllowing:
  • Two sons: Ronald (and Linda) Weddle of Bardstown, KY; and Chris (and Connie) Weddle of Liberty, KY

  • Nine grandchildren, Leslie (and Dave) Schulz, Jason Weeks, Ryan (and Jessica) Weddle, Aimee Weddle, B.J. Weeks, Joshua Weddle, Scott (and Lara) Weddle, Jennifer (and Darrell) Wittenauer and Kristin Weddle

  • Six great-grandchildren

  • Numerous nieces and nephews

  • And loving caregivers: Kathy Miller, Mary Miller, Joanie Rodgers, and Odessa Wilkie.
R.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Rupert Christopher and Laura Jane (Price) Weddle; a grandson, Bradley Lewis Weddle; two sisters, Deloris (and Gerald) Sasser and Norma Jean (and Charles) Murphy; and a brother, James G. (and Zona) Weddle.
