He was a logger by trade. He was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Herbert & Christine Langford Phelps. He leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Buel Edward "Ed" Phelps of Liberty, KY passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home. He was 62 years of age.

Cremation rites were honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.


Buel Edward Phelps, Casey County, KY (1955-2017)


Born on January 21, 1955 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Delmer Herbert & Christine Langford Phelps. he died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 62 years, three months, and four days.

He was a logger.

"Ed" is survived by:
  • A daughter: Charity Gail (and James) Lynn of Liberty, KY

  • Two sons: Joseph Edward (and Lori Sharp) Phelps of Liberty, KY; and William Scotty Phelps of Liberty, KY

  • Two sisters: Charlene (and Harlan) Cross of Liberty, KY; and Carol (and Johnny) Gooch of Kings Mountain, KY

  • Ten grandchildren: Ally Phelps, Lexi Phelps, Lucas Phelps, Brittany Phelps, Austin Phelps, John Phelps, Jack Phelps, Ashley Lynn, Bradley Lynn, and Cole Lynn

  • Two great-grandchildren: Zachary and Ansley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Glenn and William Delmer.
