James (Jim) Royce Kelly, 82, Greensburg, KY (1934-2017)

He was a lifelong farmer and a Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was the patriarch of a large, respected family, with deep family ties in Green, Adair, and Metcalfe Counties and elsewhere. His wife, Margie Lucille Kelly, survives.

Mr. James Royce "Jim" Kelly, age 82, of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday at his home in Greensburg.

The funeral services for Mr. Kelly will be conducted at 11amCT, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, Kentucky with burial in the Green County Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

Interment will follow in Green County Memory Gardens, Summersville, Kentucky.

Mr. James Royce "Jim" Kelly of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late James Matthew Kelly and Fannie Ethel Meadows Kelly, was born on September 30, 1934 and departed this life on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his home. He was 82 years, 6 months, and 23 days of age. He is survived by:
  • His wife of 58 years: Margie Lucille Kelly of Greensburg, KY

  • Three daughters & sons-in-law: Brenda Lee and Larry Lobb of Greensburg,KY; Linda Ann and Steve McGuffin of the Exie Community, Green County, KY; and Laura Jean and Jim Taylor of the Mell Community.

  • Six grandchildren: Kelly Darnell Grant of Columbia KY; Jamie Lee Lobb of Greensburg, KY; Jonathan Davenport of Greensburg, KY; James Taylor, Jr. of Mell Community, Clarence Lobb of Greensburg, KY; and Aaron Taylor of Mell Community;

  • A step-grandchild: Ashley Taylor Miller of Mell Community

  • Two great-grandchildren: Tyler Grant & Rylee Grant both of Columbia

  • Three step-great-grandchildren: Damon Edwards, Haley Edwards, and Lilly Taylor all of the Mell Community.

He was a lifelong farmer and a Veteran having served in the United States Army.

Mr. Kelly was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: Leroy Kelly, Lenwood Kelly and Lillian Hartfield.
