Funeral services for Vernon Blakey will be 2pmCT Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jerry Smith & Bro. Craig Huddleston officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pmCT Friday, April 14, 2017, and after 8amCT on Saturday until funeral time. Interment will follow in the Blakey Cemetery.Special Music will be by Regina Antle and Ledena McGowan Vernon Blakey, 89, Russell Co., KY (1928-2017) Vernon Blakey, 89, was born April 22, 1927, in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Chester & Hallie Cundiff Blakey. He died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 21 days. He was a farmer, a Separate Baptist Minister, a Veteran of US Army and a member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Irene Blakey; two sisters, Flora Loy Haven, Emogene Blair; and a brother,Cloyd Blakey. Survivors include:
