Artist Lloyd Ragle, 99, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the home of a daughter in Walton, KY.

Funeral service for Artist Ragle will be 11amCT, Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Friendship Baptist Church, 5448 KY-80, Russell Springs, KY 42642, KY, with Bro. J. Gilbert Hammond, Bro. Robert W. Ragle, and Bro. Michael Carnes officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 9amCT, Friday until funeral time at 11amCT, at the church. Interment in the Old Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jason Flanagan, Joel Hammond, Jonathan Hammond, Joel Reams, Joshua Hammond, Joseph Hammond, Steve Porter, Jr., and Louis Stargel.

He was born November 7, 1917 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late John Jefferson Ragle & Dolly Bell Cooper Ragle. He died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Walton, KY, at the age of 99 years, five months, and four days.

He was a farmer and former Sheriff of Russell County. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Ruth Moore Ragle; he later married Cleda Rains Longworth Ragle who also passed away. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Lee Ragle, and Roger Lloyd Ragle; sister, Arlene Ragle Holt; brother, Dewey Kenvil Ragle; and two stepsons, Coleman & Calvin Longworth.

He is survived by:
  • Three children: Robert Wayne Ragle & daughter-in-law, Laura Marlene Burton Ragle, Russell Springs, KY; Janet Ruth Ragle Hammond & son-in-law, Jonas Gilbert Hammond, Walton, KY; an Jeanne Carol Ragle Flanagan, Russell Springs, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Twenty-five great grandchildren

  • Seven great-great-grandchildren
