(6:12amCT, Thu 6 Apr 2017) - First reports from the storm last night, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, are that Columbia and Adair County was prepared for the worst, but the worst didn't happen.

The greatest inconvenience centered around a Taylor County RECC transformer, which went out early last evening, causing loss of power to the Holmes Bend Resort area, and to a section of Adair County north of West Egypt Road to Knifley until crews restored it at around 10:30pmCT, Adair County Road Foreman Terry Corbin, said.

Corbin said that the Green River Bait Shop and Egypt south toward Columbia had uninterrupted power, "But up where I live, toward Knifley, it's power comes through a different route, and there was a blackout for a few hours."

Foreman Corbin said his crews were called out to remove a tree downed on Bennett Ridge Road, near the Metcalfe County line, at 7:30pmCT.

Another tree across Sulphur Creek Road, off KY 206, near Ella, was reported down at around 8pmCT, and it was cleared by county road workers.

His crews also removed debris from West Egypt Road and Corbin's Bend Road last night.

"Our work was over fairly quickly. Workers on duty returned home at around 9:30pmCT," he said. Additional reports my be filed later

Tonight's storms passed by the Holmes Bend area without much visible impact, except for this downed pine tree on one side of the road and a downed power line directly across the road. Responders were already on the way for the power line at the time this photo was taken.
