Another sad consequence of the demise of the country store Dave Rosenbaum writes: I see that there is an effort to extend gas service into the rural areas of Adair (See: Adair County residents urged to complete Gas Survey form). During my youth there was abundant gas produced by the loafers (gassers) at Fairplayy to overlap with the producers at Chance, Inroad, Hardscratch, Gadberry and Sparksville so that the entire countryside was amply supplied.
