Dortha Rosa Coker Grider, 81, Casey Co., KY (1933-2017)

Dortha Grider was a minister for forty-eight years. For the last 26 years, she preached at Stanford Church of God. She enjoyed quilting, loved her family to the fullest, and was a KY Wildcats basketball fan. She was a native of Kings Mountain and a resident of Liberty, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Charles & Sally Jenkins Coker. Her husband, William Floyd Grider, survives. She leaves a great family including 33 direct living descendants.i

Dortha Rosa Coker Grider, 81, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Danville, KY. She was 83.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KYm, with Bro. Mike Sparkman officiating. Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.



Pallbearers will be Daniel Kidd, Steven Kidd, Todd Grider, Andrew Kidd, Jacob Kidd, Charlie Grider, John Lowe and Dylan Johnson.

Born April 18, 1933 in Kings Mountain, KY, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Sally Jenkins Coker. She died Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and eight days.

Dortha was a minister for forty-eight years. For the last twenty-six years, she preached at Stanford Church of God. She enjoyed quilting, loved her family to the fullest, and was a KY Wildcats basketball fan.

Survivors include:
  • Her husband: William Floyd Grider

  • One daughter: Linda (and deceased husband, Steve) Kidd of Gravel Switch, KY

  • Two sons: Charles (and MaryAnn) Grider of Elkhorn, KY; and William (and Louise) Grider, Jr. of Liberty, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Daniel, Steven, Dawn, Todd, Stephanie, Samantha, and Alecia

  • Eighteen great-grandchildren

  • Five great great-grandchildren
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five sisters.
