Mrs. Mary Hazel Davenport Cross, 85, Green Co., KY (1931-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Mary Hazel Davenport Cross passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, at the age of 85. Visitation will be Monday Morning after 10:00 AM at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main St., Greensburg, KY. The funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hazel Davenport Cross will be conducted at 2pmCT, Monday at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, with burial in the Davenport Cemetery.


Mrs. Mary Hazel Davenport Cross, daughter of the late Mr. Charles Edward Davenport and Mrs. Leora Francis Moran Davenport, was born May 10, 1931 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. She was 85 years, 10 months, and 15 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three grandchildren: Michael Magruder of Louisville, Karrie Geary of Louisville, and Angie Eirich of Berea; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cross is also survived by three sisters and two brothers: Ollye M. Clark of Louisville, Carlos Davenport of Louisville, Genevieve Buckner of Hodgenville, Randy Davenport and Gayle Holland, both of Greensburg, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Young on May 6, 2014 and a brother, William Thomas Davenport in 1935.

Memorial donations are requested to the Ladies Chapel Church or the Davenport Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Justin Magruder, Joseph Magruder, James Magruder, Michael Magruder, Aaron Cook, Lucas Hatfield, and Joe Clark.

Brothers and Sisters will be Honorary Pallbearers.
